The majority of US sorghum production occurs in the Midwest from South Dakota down to Texas in an area dubbed the Sorghum Belt. Kansas is the leading producer followed by Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Sorghum is typically planted in mid-May to early June and harvest in October.
