Turkish cherry production has increased ~15% in volume. Production volumes were high at the beginning of the harvest season and fell slightly mid-season. However, cherry demand in Europe, which is Turkey’s main export market, has decreased, contributing to a depreciation in prices.
Cherry season in Uzbekistan started in early May this year, which is approximately a week earlier than when harvest usually starts. It has been reported that both harvest volume and quality are subpar due to heavy rain and split cherries.
