The war in East Europe groups up with the rest of the problems of the Greek kiwi export sector, including production, quality, and logistics, that resulted in a hectic export season of 2021-2022. The war created a prolonged period of uncertainty in the area, creating the loss of a 4,000MT market for Greek kiwi, especially in low and medium specs fruit. These days remind a lot of the 2014 Russian Federation decision to block the import of EU fruit and vegetable produce, which created an unprecedented crisis to Greek exporters for whom Russia till today is a traditional marketplace for Greece. Greek kiwi exporters will need to reconsider the ratio of the investment budget in processing and new markets.
