A post-Christmas decrease in demand has usually resulted in an almost across-the-board drop in FOB fresh vegetable prices on the West Coast of North America. However, in 2023, the phenomenon has been reversed due to cold weather, and an unusually high number of storms has kept prices up from their YoY average. In such circumstances, it has been difficult to harvest leafy green vegetables like lettuce.
