The 25 kg bag on the farmgate went from R$ 60 a year ago to R$ 100 this year, up 67%, largely due to the strong demand from the peanut oil processing industry. However, this fierce demand from the vegetable oil industry, somehow indexed to the price of soybean oil, is also showing signs of decline due to the strong soybean harvest in South America, led by Brazil.
