Some wine companies that have been for years trying and investing in getting into the Russian market are now in serious trouble. Not only wine companies as there are also others like processed food and frozen goods that spent a lot of time investing on these efforts and now that came the time to collect they look at a closed door without a view of any other way on the near future.
Russian companies that had already established agreements with Portuguese ones keep on saying that they desire to keep relationships going after all this mess gets sorted out. The problem that poses is that no one can tell when that’s going to happen and if the rest of the world will decide to keep sanctions or not.
The impact that this war had, affected not only the Russian market but also the ones around it. Some companies that dedicate themselves mainly to the export market and to this region, have close to selling zero since the start of the war.
These sellers that had these agreements with Russian companies should go to their plan B as everyday’s news show us that this problem is here to stay and no one can tell when the end will be.
