EU Organic Certifications, USDA Organic, AUS Organic are required certifications for organic avocados.

1. Required Certifications include EU Organic Certifications, USDA Organic, AUS Organic, etc

  • Due to trade agreements, one county’s organic certifications will pass for other countries but that depends on the product and the country
  • Not only does the farmer have to be certified organic, but so do the Handlers, Processors, and Vendors

2. Relatively few developing countries have certification bodies within their borders (although the situation is changing), and even when sufficient resources are available to pay for certifications, farmers often lack the information to find credible inspectors

  • Certification for export in developing countries is often carried out by the certification bodies of the importing countries

3. All organic products imported into the EU must have the appropriate electronic certificate of inspection (e-COI)

4. There are not a lot of companies in Mexico that are licensed to give the organic certification

  • There are only 5 in Michoacan, and you must pay them to get your orchards checked
