What Are the Production Trends?

Demand for citrus products is holding steady due to Covid-19, including mandarins. The production decreased around 10% in MY 2021/22.

- Production for MY 2021/22 was around 10% less compared to the pervious season.

- Decrease in production was due to adverse weather, frost and heavy rain in spring and drought and high temperatures during summer.

- Citrus demand, in general, soared during the pandemic, especially for Oranges, Mandarins, and Lemons, driving prices up.

- Despite stable domestic demand, Spain has reduced its production area for mandarin oranges by around 16%

- Late mandarins are marketed as high-quality (premium) products in Europe. Demand is currently good from the pandemic.
