Washington, 08/12/2025 - U.S. President Donald Trump is planning a $12 billion agricultural aid package, according to a White House official—a boost for farmers who have struggled to sell their crops while facing rising costs after the Republican increased tariffs on China. According to the official, Trump will unveil the plan this afternoon at a roundtable with the Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, the Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, and legislators and farmers who grow corn, cotton, sorghum, soybeans, rice, cattle, wheat, and potatoes. Farmers have supported Trump politically, but his aggressive trade policies and frequent changes in tariffs have been increasingly scrutinized due to the impact on the sector.
