Entities representing the entire Argentine agro-industrial chain sent a letter to national deputies to prioritize "the full allocation of own resources for the Senasa given its relevance as the leading state body for animal, plant health, and food safety, and the sole entity that certifies Argentina's agro-industrial exports to all international markets." A total of 36 entities representing all agro-industrial value chains in the country – and generating the majority of the genuine foreign exchange in the Argentine economy – expressed that the Senasa "is undergoing a process of reduction of suitable personnel by more than 600 officials, out of a total staff that amounts to approximately 5,300." The number, according to the latest available data corresponding to last September, actually amounts to 5,330 workers in the health agency, of which 4,856 are personnel with a collective agreement and 474 with another employment regime.
