The Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development Commission of the Chamber of Deputies is holding a public hearing this Tuesday (2) to discuss ways to enhance the competitiveness of the plant and animal protein chain. The debate, which responds to a request by Deputy Alceu Moreira (MDB-RS), is scheduled for 3:30 PM, in a plenary session to be defined. According to the deputy, the objective is to discuss policies and strategies that strengthen the protein production chain, a sector responsible for a significant portion of jobs, tax revenue, and the surplus of the Brazilian trade balance. "The protein chain encompasses more than 18% of the GDP and 25.8% of our exports. There are 16 million direct and indirect jobs spread across the sector, which represents 2.23% of the country's jobs," he informs.
