Hail damages areas and silage needs to gain volume

The Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar this Thursday (27) indicates that the sowing of corn for silage in Rio Grande do Sul reaches about 70% of the projected area. According to the bulletin, crops are predominantly in initial phases, with "60% in germination and vegetative development" in the plantings established in October and the second half of the month. The flowering phase represents 29% of the areas, while 11% are in grain filling, described as having "good physiological standard." Maturation is still incipient and there has been no harvest in the period. The productivity estimate remains high. In various regions, expectations are positive due to the development conditions. Some areas of grain corn affected by hail will be used for silage production.
