Rosstat published data on the consumption of basic food products by the population of the Russian Federation in 2024. According to this data, the volume of sugar consumption (including confectionery products converted to sugar) in the Kemerovo region amounted to 30 kg per capita per year. This indicator decreased by 6.2% over the year and is one of the lowest in Siberia. It is also quite low for Russia. The least sugar in the country is eaten in Kalmykia—26 kg, Buryatia and Kaluga region—27 kg. The highest consumption is in the Tambov region—56 kg, Kursk and Lipetsk regions—54 kg. Meanwhile, the average consumption level in Siberia was 34 kg, in Russia—39 kg. Also in 2024, in Kuzbass, the consumption level of vegetable oil (including products containing it) decreased to 10.1 kg (-7.3%). The lowest figures in the country were recorded in the Kostroma region—8.7 kg, Sevastopol—9.1 kg, the Sakha (Yakutia) and Komi republics—9.2 kg.
