[Fisheries and Agriculture Insurance and Finance Agency=Reporter Lee Moon-ye] The Agricultural Policy Insurance and Finance Agency (hereinafter referred to as APIFA) is expanding the pilot project area in Yeosu City, Jeonnam Province, to allow for the subscription of seaweed aquaculture disaster insurance. This is a measure to increase resilience against natural disasters and establish a stable production base in response to the expanding global demand for K-GIM seaweed. The aquaculture disaster insurance, which is a policy-based insurance managed by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, compensates for damages caused by natural disasters such as typhoons, gales, red tides, and abnormal currents to ensure business stability. The government and local governments support a certain portion of the insurance premiums, and APIFA manages it.
