This agreement was carried out through the support of the "KIST Global Mobility" project.

This project supports outstanding researchers in establishing an international collaborative research base by facilitating direct exchanges with leading European research institutions.

Following the signing of the MOU, a joint workshop was held with the Mongolian Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and the Mongolian Botanic Garden and Research Institute, which have been continuing research cooperation.

At this event, research results were shared and collaboration plans for the development of future joint research projects were also discussed.

The Natural Products Research Institute has been continuously conducting collaborative research in the field of natural products with Mongolia through the Science and Technology Center project, but it was interrupted due to COVID-19, and it is hoped that active research exchanges with Mongolia will resume with this MOU.

Gangneung Branch Director Kim Ju-seon said, "The Natural Products Research Institute plans to share its technology for developing natural product pharmaceuticals and its capabilities for natural product-based smart agriculture with Mongolia," and added, "Through future joint research, the development of functional pharmaceuticals using Mongolian native plants can be promoted."
