The Ministry of Agriculture and Food: 35 projects for irrigation modernization worth 115 million euros will start in 2026.

"The modernization of the irrigation infrastructure is a key factor for the development and competitiveness of Bulgarian agriculture," Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ivan Kapitanov said during the national conference "Water and Security – National Solutions for Critical Challenges with European Support," which took place in Sofia. Problems related to irrigation, drought, and flooding face agricultural producers daily and require consistent state policy, investments, and modernization. According to him, the completion of projects for the rehabilitation of hydro-melioration infrastructure by 2025 is already yielding visible results – reduced water losses and more areas included in irrigation systems, BTA reported.
