[Korea Farmers' News Reporter Jang Hee] Gyeonggi Province's Gyeonggi Climate Satellite 1 (GyeonggiSat-1), the first in the nation to be led by a local government, was successfully launched on November 29. GyeonggiSat-1 was launched at 3:44 AM on the same day from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Approximately 56 minutes after launch, it was deployed and successfully reached its orbit at around 4:40 AM. The successful launch of the Gyeonggi Climate Satellite came after three postponements. The Gyeonggi Climate Satellite, designed to detect climate changes and changes in the urban area and ecosystem, consists of a total of three satellites. The optical satellite, the first one, will be in low Earth orbit for 3 years.
