The World Olive Germplasm Bank of Germoplasma in the 'Alameda del Obispo' center of IFAPA in Córdoba has been designated as an international reference center by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). "This is a recognition that Andalusians should feel proud of," highlighted Manuel Gómez Galera, the Secretary General of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food, following the meeting of the Andalusian Olive Council held this Wednesday. The facilities of the 'Alameda del Obispo' center of the Andalusian Institute of Agricultural, Fisheries, Food, and Ecological Production Research and Training (IFAPA) currently house more than 1,290 accessions of a total of 775 olive varieties from 29 countries.
