Trump promises up to $12 billion in assistance for American farmers from tariffs

Trump added that the USA intends to use a "small portion of the tariffs, which have already helped lower the fiscal deficit," to form the assistance funds for farmers, while making the announcement at a round table with several representatives of the sector, the Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, the Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, and the White House Economic Advisor, Kevin Hassett. According to Rollins, $11 billion in resources will be allocated to agriculture and distributed starting in February 2026, but farmers will already know how much they should receive starting this month, by registering with the government.
