Vietnam's domestic pepper market saw prices between 148,000 - 149,000 VND/kg, with Dak Lak and Dak Nong recording the highest prices. Internationally, prices remained stable, with Indonesian black pepper at 7,203 USD/ton and Malaysian white pepper at 8,800 USD/ton. Despite a 6.8% drop in export volume in the first half of 2024, the value increased by 30.5%, with the US being the largest market. However, challenges such as the lowest output in five years and reduced imports from major producers like India, Indonesia, and Brazil are projected to impact Vietnam's pepper exports, potentially hitting a five-year low. The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association emphasizes the need for improved quality, market diversification, and technological advancements to sustain growth.
