Fresh lemongrass from Vietnam

Vietnam Agribusiness Limited stores the harvested lemongrass in a controlled and cool temperature at its warehouse and silos. The herb is packed in either carton boxes of 10 kg and 20kg or vacuum-packed on demand 1-5kg per plastic packet. The consignments are ready within 5-7 days of order confirmation. Sea freight is the preferred delivery method by the company and the nearest port is the Ho Chi Minh Port.

The company deals with production entities that produce in accordance with the applicable laws. They have a number of global certifications, including USDA and SWFI. They ensure all norms under the Global GAP are adhered and the lemongrass is fresh and of high quality.

The average production yield is 1000 kg per year and the entire produce is available for the purpose of export. Harvesting season in the cultivation region is all around the year. The lemongrass crop grows well in both tropical and subtropical climates. It comes to harvest 90 days after planting and subsequently it is harvested at 50 to 55 days interval. The grass is cut 10 cm above the ground level and 5 to 6 cuttings can be taken in a year subject to climatic conditions. The harvested plant leaves can be stored under shade for 3 days without much adverse effect on the oil yield or quality of the oil. They are then chopped into smaller pieces before the distillation process. Plantation farming is used as a method of cultivation. The cultivation process can be done conventionally or with Global GAP certification.

It has a fresh, lemony aroma and a citrus flavour. It's a common ingredient for Thai cooking and as a flavouring in tea. Lemongrass is also used as a folk remedy to promote sleep, relieve pain, and boost immunity. Fresh lemongrass lasts up to 7 days and when frozen, the step can last for up to 3 years.
