Chickpeas from Sudan

Alara Investments was established in the year 2008 they are specialized in trading and processing of Non-Wood Food Products (NWFPs). Alara Investments has a modern processing and packaging facility where they pack theirs produces after strict filtering and sorting of products. After fumigation, the products are packed in 50 kg PP bags and these bags gets placed at dry storage facilities. The usual size of a container is 20 feet with a capacity of 18 MT. Each consignment takes maximum 30 days to ship from the day of confirmation of payment. The mode of shipment is by sea and port of shipment is Port Sudan which is 840 km away from the site.

Alara For Investments has Company Registration Certificate, Chamber of Commerce Certificate along with all the required trading certificates that allow them to operate in both the national and international market. That company follows all the standards of quality and business set by the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO).

Alara For Investments has a 750 square meters farm at Omdurman city in Sudan. They use plantation farming model and they have a team of thousands of sharecroppers. The harvesting period starts in October by these farmers. The harvesting process is absolutely manual without any use of mechanical machines. The company is a firm believer of a socially responsible approach in business along with 100% sustainability. They can provide 5000 MT of chickpeas annually.

The chickpeas or chickpea (Cicer arietinum) is a legume of the family of Fabaceae and the subfamily of Faboideae. It is also known as gram or Bengal gram. It is a nutrient-dense food and provides 20% or higher protein content of the Daily Value (DV). It is also an important source of dietary fibre, folate and certain dietary minerals such as iron and phosphorus, thiamin, vitamin B6, magnesium. The zinc contents are moderate and are able to provide 10-16% of the DV. Chickpeas have a Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score of about 0.76 which is higher than many other legumes and cereals.

Alara For Investments offers Raw Chickpeas of Kenyan origin. The chickpeas are ideal for both consumption and further processing. The size of the legume is between 5 mm to 7 mm and a maximum of 6% moisture content. A maximum of 3% seeds can be damaged, with only 1% broken and less than 3% presence of foreign matters and material. The chickpeas are produced and harvested using conventional or organic methods of cultivation.

The durability of this product is 2 years months if stored properly. The samples of chickpeas are available on the request of prospective buyers.
