Description
The cultivation of coconuts is done in Indonesia which is one of the world's top producers of coconuts. The fruit is harvested throughout the year in tropical regions. The coconut trees require a consistently warm climate to grow. The optimum weather conditions for the growth of coconut include a well-distributed annual rainfall of about 1500 mm, a mean air temperature of 27°C and relative humidity of about 80-90%. The harvesting of coconuts occurs by either climbing the tree using a rope or with the assistance of the power-operated ladder. The fruit is then tapped with a knife to test for maturity. If the coconuts seem ready for harvest, the stalk is cut down and dropped to the ground or lowered using a rope.

Plantation farming is used as the cultivation method for the production of coconuts.
