Description
Free World Trade works with 27 partner farms located in Saint Vincent and eight other islands. The farms go from 10 to 2500 acres of land, and have between 5 and 10 workers in the process. The cultivation is done using eco-friendly techniques and using no GMOs, pesticides or chemical products. The ginger has natural antiseptic properties and doesn´t need any type of those products to be preserved.
The cultivation is done on a 12-month cycle continuous rotation, with a 12-month cycle in which there are yields every month, but with larger quantities from January to May and from August to January. Although it is mostly manual labor, the process is increasingly including the use of automated pickers and other equipment.
