Description
The average annual yield of the flower is 1000 tonnes a year. The highest yield is observed between the months of December and February. The hibiscus plant is drought tolerant, relatively easy to grow, not suitable for mechanised harvest, labour intensive to process and can be grown as part of the multi-cropping system. The dried form of the lower can be obtained in two ways. One way is to harvest the fruits fresh, decore them, and then dry the calyces; the other is to leave the fruits to dry on the plants to some extent, harvest the dried fruits, dry them further if necessary and then separate the calyces from the capsules. Conventional methods of cultivation are used whereas farming and harvesting of the flower is done organically and very carefully.
