Coffee prices hit historic high: Central Highlands farmers win big in Vietnam

Vietnam is experiencing a significant surge in coffee prices during the peak harvest season, reaching record highs and offering farmers profitable returns.

The increase in prices, coupled with a decrease in production due to crop failure and an uptick in domestic demand, particularly among young Chinese consumers shifting from tea to coffee, has led to a challenging but profitable situation for farmers. Despite the financial gains, there is caution against overexpansion, learning from past mistakes of overproduction that led to financial crises.

The unpredictable price trends and the unusual decrease in export volume in November raise concerns about the potential for further price hikes or increased consumption pressure in the coming months.
