Production in cashew kernels have increased in Vietnam and Cambodia. Also, covid19 has been a obstacle to african processors.

  1. High cashew kernel price due to lack of RCN supply mostly from Vietnam’s key supplying countries
  2. Production of raw cashew nuts have been increasing in Vietnam and its nearby country, Cambodia
  3. Cashew producer Ivory Coast aims to process more of its own crop for sale in the huge US market, aiming to shell half by 2025. This would create a shift away from exporting RCN to Vietnam
  4. Cambodia aims to increase export of processed cashew nuts after a successful export to Japan. It is setting its eyes on fresh new markets such as Europe, Canada, China, and Australia.
  5. Expected increase in RCN production in Nigeria with the formation of Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) and the Cashew Council Ghana (CCG
  6. Due to the aftermath of COVID19, almost all the over 50 African cashew processing were underutilized, with access to reliable financing being a challenge for cashew processors in Africa.
  7. Cambodia processing plants are experiencing delays fulfilling cashew kernel orders due to reduction in workers from COVID19.

  8. The biggest difficulty of Vietnamese processors is capital. Therefore, the desire of these businesses is to access long-term preferential capital.
