Global orange juice production is forecasted to rise by 17% to 1.8 million tons (65 degrees Brix) for 2020/21 due to increased production in Brazil and Mexico, which has offset reduced production in the US. EU orange juice production is also forecasted to rise by 8%, compared to the previous marketing year, reaching 87,987 MT for MY 2020/21. The arrival of COVID-19 in 2020 raised orange juice retail sales in large consumer markets such as the US and Europe. Fear of the virus drove consumers to high vitamin C-containing foods, thus increasing the demand for orange juice.
