South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has announced plans to increase its food aid contribution to 150,000 tons of rice, distributed through the World Food Programme. This represents a threefold increase from the country's previous annual donation of 50,000 tons. The recipients of this aid, which includes countries from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Central America, will be selected based on the Global Hunger Index and the receptivity to Korean rice. The aid will be delivered in two installments throughout the year, with distribution expected to begin in July 2025.
