The Spanish Civil Guard is investigating nine people for adulterating olive oil. The operation was launched after a health alert was issued by the Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency, which reported the illegal sale of olive oil by oil packaging and distribution companies. Objections concerned labeling irregularities, lack of sanitary records and official traceability checks. Counterfeit olive oil under different brand labels Based on laboratory analysis, it was determined that the adulterated product was offered for sale in five-litre bottles, labeled as extra virgin olive oil. It was actually a mixture of vegetable oil with lampante (low quality) olive oil. This adulterated oil was sold as extra virgin olive oil under the labels of seventeen different brands.
