Spain had a spike of 79% in meat exports in January thanks to increased demand for pork from China. Except for beef exports, which are down 43% compared with January 2020, every type of meat produced in Spain reported a significant increase in exports: pig meat totalled 202,102 tonnes ( +89% ), sheep and goat meat stood at 1,110 tonnes (+63%) and poultry reached 7,020 tonnes ( +7%).China took 166,605 tonnes of meat from Spain (mainly pork), up 124% compared to January last year, fueling the expectations of Spanish meat exporters. It was followed by the Philippines (11,159 tonnes).
