Abiarroz: rice exports in Brazil are expected to reach around 1.2 million t in 2021

Rice exports (husk base) should reach around 1.2 million tonnes this year, according to the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz). The entity's projection is based on shipments made from January to October, which total 958 thousand tons. In the same period of 2020, external sales of the cereal totaled 1.68 million t. In the assessment of the director of International Affairs at Abiarroz, Gustavo Trevisan, the projection of foreign sales for 2021 is within expectations, being close to the volume shipped in 2019, when Brazil exported 1.43 million tons. “The year 2020, the height of the codiv-19 pandemic, was atypical, with great worldwide demand for rice.
