The registration process will last until February 17 this year, after which the state will begin providing direct financial support to hazelnut growers, EastFruit reports. In accordance with this program, hazelnut farmers (individuals) who own or use hazelnut orchards ranging from 0.2 to 3 hectares will receive a subsidy from the state at the rate of 500 lari ($189 at the current exchange rate) per 1 ha. The corresponding points will be credited to farmers' agricultural cards in Liberty Bank, and using them, they will be able to purchase various products in specialized agricultural stores necessary for caring for hazelnuts on the eve of the 2023 season. Points on the agricultural card will be valid until August 31. Farmers who own hazelnut orchards with an area of 3 hectares or more will be able to receive preferential agricultural loans to replenish working capital under the program.
