According to experts, if AI does not land in Brazil, we should have another robust year for exports

The Radar Agro report, by Itaú Unibanco, points to great chances for Brazil to repeat a good year in the national poultry industry. According to figures from the report released yesterday, in poultry farming, 2022 was marked by a gradual increase in the pace of production, starting with 1.6% expansion (1Q 22/21) and ending with 4.7% in the last quarter. On average for the year, growth was 2.2%, totaling 12.9 million tons, a new historical record. On the export side, the sector also renewed records, with shipments of 4.8 million tons, 4.6% above 2021 and, even so, apparent consumption also advanced by 0.8%, the highest ever observed. The estimated per capita consumption was around 37.5 kg/inhabitant. As the Radar report points out, the sector started the year pressured by high production costs, high supply and, consequently, difficulty in passing on prices, something that began to ease from March with corn prices and, mainly, bran of soybeans relieving more recently.
