Russia: African swine fever was found in sausages in regions neighboring Novosibirsk

Stores in several Russian regions have received meat products infected with the African swine fever virus (ASF). Rosselkhoznadzor registered about ten such cases in September alone. Cases of distribution of these products were identified in the Ryazan, Bryansk, Vladimir, Tula regions, as well as in the Krasnodar, Altai, Krasnoyarsk territories and Yakutia.
According to the Rosselkhoznadzor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the department received information about the detection of the genome of the African swine fever virus in the products “FILE HAM”, produced by “Starodvorskie sausages”, with a production date of 08/25/2023. Department specialists quickly, using the Mercury system, identified the recipients of the products. — Together with the veterinary inspection service of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Department collected product samples in retail outlets in Krasnoyarsk, Bogotol and the Emelyanovsky district. According to the results of studies conducted at the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Center for Grain Quality Assessment", DNA of the African swine fever virus was detected in 3 samples. The products from which samples were taken were withdrawn from sale, the department said.
