The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina determined on Monday (3) the suspension of exports of seven cuts of beef until December 31, 2023. The objective is to "create a balance" between the internal and external markets and the measure, says the Federal Government, "was agreed with the producer organizations (and the meatpacking industry)". Bone-in or boneless ribs, soft tops and shoulder blades are among the cuts that can no longer be exported. The sale of whole casings abroad was also banned. The government of President Alberto Fernández had already determined, in May 2021, a total ban on meat exports for 30 days and, in the following months, quotas for the sale of the product abroad. Casa Rosada also established a price freeze on 1,432 products in October 2021. The price fixing in the markets is scheduled to expire on Friday, January 7th.
