Peru: Agroperú Fund granted credits for S/ 134,000 to chestnut producers

(Agraria.pe) Through the Financing Program for Non-Timber Forest Productive Chains in Madre de Dios, the Agroperú Fund granted the first loans to six chestnut dealers from the Association of Amazon Nut Collectors of Peru (Ronap) and to three producers of the Tres Islas Native Community for a total amount of S/ 134 thousand. The program promoted by the National Forest and Wildlife Service (Serfor) facilitates access to financing, and for the first time the Agroperu Fund is aimed at supporting small non-timber forest producers in this region, which includes peasant communities and native communities . Disbursements are made through the Agricultural Bank (Agrobanco) in Madre de Dios and it is expected to have a positive impact on the reactivation of the economy in this region, especially since it is an emblematic product.
