A laying hen farm in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, has tested positive for H5-type avian influenza (AI) antigen, potentially marking it as the 40th case since October 2024. A total of 39 cases have already been confirmed in domestic poultry farms, with the highly pathogenicity of this strain yet to be determined. In response, an initial response team has been dispatched, and a 24-hour 'Standstill' order has been issued to prevent the virus from spreading. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is urging farmers to report any symptoms and is reminding the public to follow quarantine rules to prevent the spread of the virus.
