Russia is expected to experience a significant decrease in its commercial apple harvest this year, with an estimated decrease of 30-35% compared to 2023 due to unfavorable weather conditions. The quality of the apples is also reportedly not reaching dessert level in almost all regions, with the situation being particularly unfavorable in Lipetsk, Tula, Voronezh, and Belgorod regions. As a result, the cost of apples is expected to increase by 20-30% by the New Year. The Ministry of Agriculture is considering increasing apple imports to help control retail prices.
