After two sessions of the so-called "soybean dollar", the Minister of Economy of Argentina, Sérgio Massa, stated that his new tool will now be the "agro dollar". Massa brought the announcement on his visit to the American capital, Washington, last week, and the information comes from the local newspaper Clarin. The objective is to expand and intensify Argentine agribusiness exports and, also according to the minister, to bring some help to producers after such aggressive losses caused by one of the worst droughts in the country's history. In addition, Massa also stated that another of his objectives is to ensure that the sector's exports take place in a way that they can continue to generate foreign exchange to fulfill commitments with the IMF (International Monetary Fund).
