ASEAN discusses global food crisis threats

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- Delegations from ASEAN countries held a meeting of the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB) in Ciawi, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Wednesday to discuss the threat of a global food crisis. The head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi said in this activity that Indonesia would act as chairman in the meeting which would last for two days. "We discussed a lot in two days about food, how is the food crisis, El Nino, how do we all prepare food reserves, especially in ASEAN," he said. Arief explained that the meeting underlined the important issues raised by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the threat of food shortages and hunger in various parts of the world as a result of climate change.
