ASF outbreak detected in one of the largest cities in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in Russia

The focus of African swine fever was found in Minusinsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, where about 70 thousand people live. This was announced to TASS on Wednesday by the mayor of the city Andrey Pervukhin. In mid-March, Rosselkhoznadzor specialists received information about the death of pigs in a personal subsidiary farm in the village of Malaya Minusa, Minusinsk district, Krasnoyarsk Territory. Samples were taken and it turned out that the animals were infected with African swine fever. More than 500 animals were seized and burned. On the territory of the Minusinsk region, a quarantine and an emergency regime were introduced. “In one of the private farmsteads in Minusinsk on Altaiskaya Street, one fallen pig with the ASF virus was recorded. Now experts are making a round of private farmsteads to determine the number of livestock,” said Pervukhin. According to the EDDS of Minusinsk, the city has a state of emergency. “As part of the quarantine emergency, pork products are subject to seizure and destruction,” the EDDS said in a statement.
