(Seosan=Yonhap News) Reporter Han Jong-gu = A suspected high-pathogenic avian influenza (AI) antigen was detected at a duck farm in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, prompting quarantine authorities to cull approximately 28,000 ducks raised at the farm.
Seosan City announced on the 14th that an H5-type AI antigen was confirmed during a routine pre-shipment inspection at a duck farm located in Gobook-myeon.
The city has requested a precise examination from the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service to determine the antigen's high-pathogenicity, and in accordance with quarantine guidelines, is proceeding with culling all ducks raised at the farm and removing contaminated materials.
The precise test results from the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service will be available in 1-3 days.
Additionally, a movement restriction order has been issued for 133 poultry farms located within a 10km radius of the farm.
These farms are currently raising a total of 200,000 poultry, including chickens and ducks.
A Seosan City official stated, "We urge active cooperation from poultry farms and citizens to prevent the spread of AI."
