According to the Dak Lak Department of Agriculture and Environment, the locality currently has 38,800 hectares of durian, leading the country. Currently, the province's durian gardens are in the fruit-growing stage, with harvest expected in about 3 months. The total provincial output in 2025 is estimated to reach around 400,000 tons, an increase of 100,000 tons compared to 2024. However, this crop season is forecast to face significant challenges in exports, as China - the primary consumption market for Dak Lak and Vietnam's durian - is tightening plant quarantine regulations for each shipment. This tightening has caused a severe decline in durian export activities in the first 6 months of this year. In fact, many shipments to China have been returned due to Cadimi and Yellow O contamination, leading to a sharp drop in durian prices compared to the same period in 2024.
