The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture reported that the H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic was detected for the first time in Mato Grosso do Sul.

The Brazilian Ministry of Health stated that the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses was carried out in a poultry farm. The Ministry of Health emphasized that the epidemic originated from a domestic farm and there were no industrial poultry farms nearby.
