In response to a bird flu outbreak at a commercial farm in Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais has discarded 450 tons of fertile eggs and other materials. This preventive measure, part of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Contingency Plan, aims to maintain sanitary control and prevent the spread of the disease. The plan was signed in 2022 following the first outbreak in South America. Minas Gerais, with its significant egg production, is taking necessary steps to ensure containment and eradication of the disease while safeguarding production capacity.
