(Boseong=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Jeong-in = Boseong County, Jeonnam, announced on the 2nd that it has been selected for the '2025 Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Lab Establishment Project' bid by the Rural Development Administration.
This is to strengthen the specialized facilities for analyzing the safety of agricultural products production and the local food distribution stages, and Boseong County is the only one selected in Jeonnam, securing a project cost of 1 billion won.
Boseong County plans to use the secured national funds to additionally introduce precision analysis equipment such as multi-component residual pesticide analysis equipment.
It is planned to improve the sample preprocessing and quality management system to enhance the annual inspection processing capacity by about 150% compared to the past.
Additionally, by rearranging the analysis lab space and improving the environment, it is planned to increase work efficiency and gradually expand the service scope, including the expansion of preliminary safety inspections for local agricultural products and the provision of technology support for reducing residual pesticides to farmers.
Boseong County has been conducting agricultural product safety inspections on its own since 2009, but the need for the reinforcement of advanced analysis equipment and the improvement of the experimental environment has been steadily raised due to the diversification of the distribution structure and the increasing level of consumer demands.
County head Kim Cheol-woo said, "This is an important opportunity to strengthen the scientific basis for enhancing the reliability of local agricultural products, not just equipment reinforcement," and added, "We will make efforts to ensure that safe and high-quality agricultural products are produced and distributed."
