(Agraria.pe) Brazil estimates an 8% increase in mango export volumes in a context of concern about logistical complications to get the fruit to export markets on time. Last year, Brazil exported 272,000 tons of mangoes. These exports generated around US$250 million. According to Jorge de Souza, technical director and project manager at the Brazilian Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas), they expect a very positive season without major production problems. "Our expectations are for a very positive harvest. In the first half of the year we had some unwanted rains, but they did not affect the mangoes. In general, we estimate to harvest around 30 metric tons per hectare. There are no big problems in terms of production. The second part of the year is when we harvest and export the bulk of our mango crop," he said.
