Below, a summary of the main variables of Brazilian pig farming for the first half of this year: Pig slaughter for the first half consolidated 27.6 million heads (Mc), a number that represents a growth of 6.9% compared to the same period in 2021, when 25.8 Mc were reached. Pork production was 2,545.4 thousand tons (mt), which represents an increase of 6.4% in relation to the 2,392.4 thousand tons consolidated in the same period of the previous year. The volume of exports dropped 9.8% in the analyzed period, from 552.3 mt to 498.2 mt respectively. Of the total exported, 89% corresponded to the item frozen meat (444 mt), while the items offal (33 mt) and ham (11 mt) participated with 6.6 and 2.1% respectively. Imports stood at 4.8 mt for this first half, which meant a growth of 161.2% compared to the same period in 2021 (1.8 mt).
