The Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (Abic) forecasts a 25% increase in supermarket coffee prices in the next two months, with current 1kg traditional coffee bags costing 48.90 reais, as coffee bean prices rise. The industry is struggling to control inflation, with factors such as extreme weather damage to coffee trees, increased logistics costs, and growing global demand for coffee leading to a 224% increase in raw material costs and a 110% rise in consumer coffee prices over the past four years. The conflict in the Middle East has further increased international shipping costs, and China's becoming a major importer of Brazilian coffee has put additional pressure on the local market.
